Testimonials

As a parent, I am constantly trying to enrich the environment of my two sons. In the day and age we live in, their physical well being when their mother and I are not around is a constant concern. I wanted a Martial Arts School that did not teach my sons how to be the aggressor. I also wanted a school to teach discipline, self defense, confidence, manners, and to help provide the necessary tools for my boys to grow up and capitalize on traits and characteristics they already possess. Without a doubt, I found such a school. I feel confident in Sensei Walls' ability to teach my sons the art of karate. His presence around kids is one of mutual respect. His style of instruction is one that is easy to follow for all ages. Seeing your children gain confidence and rise in the ranks of karate is very exciting. In addition, karate provides the added benefits of both physical and mental fitness.

My son and I have enjoyed karate at Lincoln Karate Clinic for almost a year.  My son started a month before I did.  He started the “tigers” program at 6 years old.  One month later LKC had a Fathers Day class for dads, or others, to have a class with their children.  I could see how much my son enjoyed me doing karate with him, so I joined.  It was a great decision.  I have been involved with many things in my life, but karate is something that I enjoy so much that I don’t like to miss a class.  I have had the pleasure to meet some wonderful people at LKC.  I intend to be a member for a long time.  There are many benefits to karate, my favorite is self defense.  My sons favorite things about favorite are the games.  I like that he learns how to handle bullies and strangers.

Our youngest son started karate shortly before his 7th birthday in the hopes that he would learn how to deal with some older children at school that were bullying him, and help him improve his focus.  A month later the rest of the family started so that we would have an activity that we could all do together in a positive environment.  We were encouraged that the boys were learning self-defense/stranger danger in addition to getting quality exercise and building their self-confidence as well.  We are also supportive of Sensei’s expectations of the use of good manners, respectfulness, humility, and to always do your best both in and out of school.  It has been a positive experience for all of us and we all enjoy going to classes regularly.  Sensei Walls is an outstanding instructor who has developed a goal-oriented individually paced curriculum that is challenging mentally and physically for students of all ages.  We have really enjoyed meeting the wonderful group of people at LKC.

Lincoln Karate Clinic has been a blessing in our lives. One of my twin sons, now eleven years old, was being bullied at school. He had no confidence or self esteem; he was angry, defiant, disrespectful, mean to his brother, and very unhappy. His school counselor recommended Scott Walls and LKC, and I can’t thank her enough. LKC’s program is great, and Sensei Scott teaches so much more than Karate. He truly cares about his students.

The Bully Busting program Sensei Scott teaches has given both my sons the confidence to stand up to bullies. They now know the different types of strangers to watch out for and what to do if ever approached. My sons also have developed great focus in school and at home and wonderful manners. They have been doing Karate at LKC now for almost 3 years, and the difference is as drastic as night and day. I now have two happy, confident little boys! Goal setting has become
very important and they are determined to earn their blackbelt.

Karate looked like so much fun, I decided to start doing Karate with the boys, and I love it. It has become a bonding ground for my boys and me. It is something we can do together at the dojo and at home, plus the boys love to “teach mom.” I’ve been meeting the challenges I’ve set for myself, which include focusing my mind, exercising, and working hard with new friends. As an added bonus I’ve lost over 25 pounds!

LKC is a truly special place. Sensei Scott is wonderful and accommodating to work with, and everyone at the dojo is kind and welcoming. My sons and I have felt like part of an extended family since we started training. This appreciative mom and her two well-mannered, confident, and happy boys are glad we heard about LKC. For the many positive changes that have been brought about in our lives, we are sincerely grateful. Thank you Sensei Scott and LKC!

My 10-yr-old son started at LKC almost 2 1/2 years ago.  It has been a positive experience every step of the way.  My son looks forward to class, and I do too because it is such a great program for adults and kids alike.  The kids respect Sensei and look up to the older boys (black belts) as mentors.  These are definitely the influences I want in my son's life as he grows into a young man.  Sensei does more than teach karate; he instills the importance of character training and behavior outside of the dojo.  Belt advancements are taken seriously and must be earned.  Everyone helps each other out.  My son who was once a beginner is now helping out other kids and "showing them the ropes".  Sensei and the other instructors are wonderful with children and know how to motivate.  We will be at this school for a long time.

When I was seven some of the kids including me in my class were being bullied by an older kid out on the playground at recess time.  The school wasn’t doing anything about it.  I had a talk with my mom and dad so we decided to check out Martial Arts.  In the beginning we didn’t really know anything about martial Arts. Then we grabbed the phone book and started to call around.  I started out doing Taekwondo for three weeks.  Then I didn’t really like it so we looked for another martial arts place.  After a couple of days we found one it was called Lincoln Karate Clinic.  The first day I went there I met a lot of people.  And there was one kid who helped me with everything, his name was Ben.  He was a purple belt when I started, now he’s a black belt.

Since I have been coming to karate for almost three years, I have gotten much stronger.  Because of this I’m more confident at school and at karate.  I’ve been doing a program call National Black Belt Club.  We work on goal setting, for example having a goal to get a new belt, in order to do this I have to set smaller goals with small dates.  I have a lot of responsibility, because you know more than the people that just do the regular program so you can help them with kata or something else.  I’m a quick learner in the NBBC (National Black Belt Club), for example I’m a quick learner in kata, bunkai, and self-defense.  I’ve a lot of knowledge in karate, for example I have knowledge in kata, and bunkai.

There’s another program that I help out all the time and it’s called Taishin Tigers.  I volunteer every time there’s Tigers.  I think I’m a good solution finder because when Sensei asks a question they sometimes argue so I break them up.  I’m a much more responsible person by being positive at Tigers.

I’ve been doing S.T.I.C.K.S. (Specialized Training in Classical Kobudo Systems) for about one and half years.  Being a quick learner makes it easier to test in S.T.I.C.K.S. and learn forms quicker.  I’m a purple belt in S.T.I.C.K.S. so that means I’ve a lot of knowledge in S.T.I.C.K.S.  I competed in the Cornhusker State Games last year in S.T.I.C.K.S. and I won a gold medal and I’m going to compete this year too!

There’s a pretty new program called G.O.L.D. (Guidance on Leadership Development).  I work on leadership skills and becoming a Jr. Instructor.  Sensei teaches us how to be good role-model for others and an assistant.   And he teaches us how to be peaceful so we don’t intimidate them.  You need to have lots of knowledge to be in G.O.L.D. because were practicing being a Jr. Instructor so we have too know all the basics and forms so you don’t teach people the wrong things.  And I follow Sensei in his footsteps by copying him as best as I can.  I also dreams of being a sensei and having a big dojo full of people one day.  You also have a lot of responsibility for assisting / teaching classes, like focusing on someone needs, or follow the schedule so you don’t teach the wrong forms, or techniques.

In conclusion, I’ve achieved my first big goal of getting my black belt.  Now my next goal is going to be second degree black belt, then so on.  My last goal is going to be test for koncho, and then I will have my own dojo.

“My son and some of his classmates were getting soccer balls kicked in their faces at point blank range from an older student who was a bully. The school was not effectively dealing with these issues to eliminate these negative situations.”

“Enough was enough! I had heard good things about martial arts and thought that I would check them out. I visited three dojos before joining Lincoln Karate Clinic.”

“After my son being a member for over a year I began to notice dramatic changes in my son. He was a lot more confident. He no longer gets picked on and he is much stronger.”

“At conference time I was pleasantly surprised at the subtle changes. The teacher now uses him for a mentor to others. He is developing leadership skills and is also learning goal setting techniques.”

"Did I mention that his grades went from A's, B's to straight A's? What more could I possibly ask for?”

“Practical, professional and intensive martial arts training is provided by Sensei Scott Walls at the Lincoln Karate Clinic. His commitment to quality and excellence assures that students of all ages receive the best training possible. Karate training is a fantastic way to get and stay in shape.”

“If I said Chuck Norris, Bruce lee and Jackie Chan, you would think….Karate…right?”  “Well, what if I said – discipline, self esteem, respect, common sense, fairness, teamwork, patience, balance, manners, focus, social and listening skills, pride, physical development, mental well being.  Not to mention a physical ability and a strong feeling of confidence to deal with life in all its aspects, including dealing with bullies, strangers, and all the other dangers our world now holds for our children.”  “What would you say then?”….”Right”!....”Karate again”!

“That’s what we found when we enrolled our 7 yr old daughter in Karate.  Now, balance that with a fun, structured, energetic, inviting, well designed, family oriented environment, with flexible class schedules, add a few games for a job well done.  Top it off with an enthusiastic, but patient, -disciplined but child at heart instructor, certified to teach / counsel development at a mental, physical, and a social level all at once.  Whose teaching approach is void of any pressures to develop, and progress, at a pace any faster than the child’s own individual effort, and desire to succeed.  Yet instilling in each one, the knowledge that they have the ability to achieve at the highest level, if that’s what they choose to strive for.  Oh,…..and don’t forget, self defense is taught too.  After all, ….it is a Karate class.  Put this all together, and you get the Taishin Karate Dojo, with its Sensei Scott Walls.”

“Our daughter was lacking in many aspects of social development, insecure in her abilities to interact confidently with other kids, and unable to focus on the important things in life.  Some parents throw their hands up.  Even though she didn’t, we had faith in her.  We just needed to try motivating her in a way we hadn’t already tried.  Within a week, we noticed a difference.  All the social and mental skills mentioned earlier became a natural part of her life, instead of feelings and abilities she felt, were just simply out of her reach.  Now…..nothing is, thanks to the motivational teachings of Sensei Scott Walls, and the awesome and fun atmosphere of the Lincoln Karate Clinic!”
